UFA Show & Factual stands for first-class entertainment, high-quality produced shows and emotional docutainment. The successful programs fascinate millions of viewers every year and have had a lasting impact on the TV landscape.
The company’s core business comprises the development and production of entertainment formats. These include talent and game shows, quiz and panel shows, dating and comedy shows as well as popular factual entertainment formats.
UFA Show & Factual produces for major TV stations such as RTL, ProSieben, ARD, ZDF and SWR. In addition to the company headquarters in Cologne, the entertainment specialist produces at the media locations in Berlin, Hamburg and Baden-Baden. Productions from UFA Show & Factual also delight viewers in Austria, Switzerland and Hungary.

UFA Show & Factual GmbH’s productions include successful talent shows such as DEUTSCHLAND SUCHT DEN SUPERSTAR (RTL), quiz and panel shows such as WER WEISS DENN SOWAS? (ARD) and SAG DIE WAHRHEIT (SWR), dating shows such as TAKE ME OUT (RTL) and popular factual formats such as EATING WITH MY EX (discovery+), DIE RETOURENJÄGER (RTLzwei), BAUER SUCHT FRAU(ATV and RTL) and HARTZ UND HERZLICH (RTLZWEI). In addition, UFA Show & Factual exclusively accompanied the largest Arctic expedition of all time and produced a comprehensive high-end documentary with EXPEDITION ARKTIS (ARD). Popular classics such as GEH AUHFS GANZE (Sat.1) or DER PREIS IST HEISS (RTL) round off the extensive portfolio of UFA Show & Factual.
In Austria, the entertainment specialist has been producing the Austrian version of the TV romance BAUER SUCHT FRAU (ATV) with great success since 2005 and X-FAKTOR has been thrilling audiences in Hungary.
- 1988 The company Grundy TV Produktions GmbH is founded in Munich and produces "Ruck Zuck"
- 1990 Grundy TV takes over production of the quiz show "Hopp oder Top"
- 1993 Fremantle Deutschland Fernsehproduktions GmbH is founded and produces "familien duell" and "Geh aufs Ganze"
- 1994 Fremantle produces "Jeopardy!" and "The Price is Hot"
- 1995 Pearson Television buys Grundy TV
- 1996 Grundy TV produces "Jeder gegen Jeden". Fremantle produces "Herzblatt" and "Bube, Dame, Hörig"
- 1997 Pearson Television buys Fremantle parent company All American Communications
- 1998 Fremantle and Grundy TV are merged under the umbrella of Pearson Television
- 2000 Audiofina, CLT-UFA and Pearson TV merge to form RTL Group
- 2001 "The quiz with Jörg Pilawa" starts on ARD
- 2001 Pearson Television changes its global name to FremantleMedia. Pearson Germany becomes GRUNDY Light Entertainment
- 2002 GRUNDY Light Entertainment produces the first season of "Deutschland sucht den Superstar"
- 2003 The classic "Sag die Wahrheit" goes on air on SWR. GRUNDY LE produces "Star Search" for Sat.1
- 2004 GRUNDY LE revives "Ruck Zuck" and produces the make-over show "The Swan - Finally Beautiful!"
- 2005 GRUNDY Light Entertainment produces the new game show "5Gegen5" for Swiss television
- 2006 "You can Dance!" starts on Sat.1.
- 2007 The first season of "Das Supertalent" on RTL goes on air
- 2008 GRUNDY LE develops and produces an online format for the first time: "Dr. Ankos 365" goes online on bild.de and elsewhere
- 2009 "Das Quiz mit Jörg Pilawa" celebrates its 1500th episode on ARD. The dance show "Yes We Can Dance" starts on SAT.1
- 2010 GRUNDY Schweiz AG produces "The greatest Swiss talents" for SRF
- 2010 Ute Biernat takes over the management of UFA Entertainment in addition to her previous responsibilities
- 2010 GRUNDY LE produces "X-Factor" for the Hungarian broadcaster RTL Klub and brings "X Factor" to Germany on VOX
- 2011 "X Factor" wins the Bavarian Television Award in the Entertainment category
- 2012 The second season of the doppelganger casting show "My Name Is" starts on RTL II
- 2013 The new dating show "Take Me Out" starts on RTL
- 2013 Renaming to UFA SHOW & FACTUAL: GRUNDY LE becomes UFA SHOW and UFA Entertainment becomes UFA FACTUAL
- 2014 The new Austrian music show "Herz von Österreich" goes on air on Puls 4
- 2015 UFA SHOW and UFA FACTUAL merge and will operate as UFA SHOW & FACTUAL GmbH in the future
- 2015 The early evening quiz "Wer weiß denn sowas?" starts on ARD. "Zuhause im Glück" celebrates its 10th anniversary on RTL II
- 2015 UFA SHOW & FACTUAL sets up a new division in Hungary, which is part of the production company UFA Magyarország
- 2016 The documentary series "Hartz und herzlich" starts on RTL II. RTLplus brings back the game shows "Familien Duell" and "Ruck Zuck"
- 2017 The new edition of "Super Toy Club" starts on SUPER RTL
- 2018 Sky and UFA SHOW & FACTUAL bring "X Factor" back to Germany
- 2019 UFA SHOW & FACTUAL accompanies the largest Arctic expedition of all time
- 2020 "Who can, who can!" can be seen on Netflix from January 17
- 2021 In "Take Me Out - Boys Boys Boys", gay men are in charge for the first time
