UFA Mitte GmbH is the youngest unit of the UFA Group based in Leipzig. It was founded in September 2024 and emerged from the previous local branch. The aim of the new and independent unit is to continue existing successful program brands and to develop and produce new content for broadcasters and streamers originally in Central Germany.

NEUES LAND (AT) is the first feature film project from UFA Mitte to receive a positive funding commitment in the latest project round of the Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung (MDM).

UFA currently employs around 100 people in Leipzig. In the past, UFA has already produced historical events such as DRESDEN (ZDF) and DER TUNNEL (Sat.1), LEANDER HAUSMANN’S STASIKOMÖDIE (cinema) and the internationally award-winning hit series DEUTSCHLAND ’86 (Prime Video) as well as DIE UNHEIMLICHE LEICHTIGKEIT DER REVOLUTION (MDR/ARD) or the series SAM – Ein SACHSE (Disney+), which won three Grimme Awards in 2024. The production volume at the location is over 1000 broadcast minutes per year.

The managing director of UFA Mitte GmbH is producer Katharina Rietz (e.g. SOKO LEIPZIG). Producer Henriette Lippold ( CHARITÉ, MARZAHN MON AMOUR, among others) is responsible for the development of new programs. Sebastian Werninger was appointed as a further managing director.
