“Ich bin dann mal weg” tells the story of searching and arriving – sometimes screamingly funny, but also moving and emotional. After a sudden hearing loss, a gall bladder operation and an imaginary heart attack, entertainer Hape (Devid Striesow) realizes in no uncertain terms that he can’t go on like this. A doctor advises the stressed Hape to take it easy for a few months. He soon tells his baffled agent Dörte (Annette Frier) about his very special relaxation and self-discovery plan: With the memory of his devout grandma (Katharina Thalbach) in his head, Hape wants to make a pilgrimage along the Camino de Santiago. When he arrives in Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port in France, he meets two other pilgrims, the reserved Stella (Martina Gedeck) and the brash English journalist Lena (Karoline Schuch), but soon loses sight of them again. The rocky, steep path is difficult for Hape, who is a sports fanatic, and the overcrowded, cramped pilgrims’ hostels are not to his liking. He wants to break off, but Lena, Stella and the South American bon vivant Americo (Birol Ünel) get him back on track…
In December 2018, Hape Kerkeling’s second bestselling novel “Der Junge muss an die frische Luft” will be released in cinemas, adapted by UFA FICTION. All information about the new movie can be found here.
Devid Striesow on his role as Hape Kerkeling and what it was like for him to portray one of Germany’s most famous TV stars: “Of course I had cuffs before the role,” says the actor. “I was afraid whether I would do justice to Kerkeling. I definitely didn’t want to parody him.” The worry was unfounded, as Kerkeling himself is said to have been delighted with Striesow’s performance. (Source: Brigitte)
