More than #somethingwithmedia: UFA launches new training program UFA Academy

09.02.2022

Potsdam, February 9, 2021– The shortage of skilled workers has also become more noticeable in the film and television industry in recent years. In order to counteract this development even more actively, UFA is launching the UFA Academy, an entry-level program aimed specifically at career changers with a wide range of previous experience. People between the ages of 25 and 60 who are looking for a new career or reorientation are eligible to apply. Experience in the media industry is not a prerequisite. The UFA Academy is launching the two-year professional development program from May 2022 for the areas of production management, assistant director, script/continuity and film management. The entry-level program concludes with a UFA certificate.

UFA has stood for excellent training for decades. On average, 40 trainees are employed at several locations each year. In addition, UFA offers a wide range of internal training and further education opportunities in the form of traineeships and internships – both in the administrative area and in the productions, including digital communication, technical trades on set, production management, props, and much more.

Joachim Kosack, Managing Director of UFA GmbH and UFA Serial Drama: “The shortage of skilled workers is now a much-discussed and widespread topic, and not only in our industry. Since good training has always been a top priority at UFA and is constantly being improved both quantitatively and qualitatively, we now want to go one step further. With the UFA Academy, we are enabling committed career changers to get their start in our exciting industry. Because anything is possible with us!”

Janna Bardewyck, Senior HR Manager / Personnel Development at UFA Serial Drama: “At UFA, you can surpass yourself – I know that from my own experience. With our lateral entry programme, we professionalize exactly that. Bring your passion for the respective field and you can become anything! With this in mind, I am already looking forward to receiving many exciting and hopefully diverse applications.”
