The sixth season of SPOTLIGHT, the successful Nickelodeon series about the talented acting, dancing and singing students of the Berlin School of Arts, will be available exclusively on Paramount+ from December 8, 2022. The 13 new 22-minute episodes will be produced by UFA Serial Drama on behalf of VIS and Nickelodeon.
Markus Brunnemann, Managing Director of UFA Serial Drama, and Helga Löbel, Producer of UFA Serial Drama: “Anyone who knows the story of SPOTLIGHT can only rejoice with us and our fans: a fine little format from 2016 is being rolled out internationally after many years of hard work by everyone involved – initially in six languages worldwide. Kids brands take time, but investing in them is absolutely worthwhile. This is proof of that.”
At the center of the new season are Greta (Chiara Tews), Rocco (Malcom Meckert), Emily (Nevena Schöneberg) and Sam (Jerome Weinert), who are ambitiously pursuing their dreams of the big stage, but never losing sight of the fun. In the new school year, the creative Lenny (German Shulga) and the singing talent Luna (Carlotta Truman) join the gang, which is completed by Larissa (Leonie Pollok), Mads (Mike Leon Lichtenberg), Milan (Simon Zeller) and Lasse (Esmael Agostinho). In addition to everyday school life, they all have to overcome their own challenges and find their own way.
They will once again be visited and actively supported by numerous guest stars from TV, music and the world of influencers. They include singers Lotte and Madeline Juno, TikTok stars JulesBoringLife and Twenty4Tim, as well as entrepreneur, choreographer and author Nikeata Thompson. GZSZ legend Wolfgang Bahro and SPOTLIGHT all-stars Lisa Küppers, HeyMoritz, Luana Knöll and Lea Mirzanli will also be returning to the BSA as guest stars.
Helga Löbel, Producer UFA Serial Drama: “We are particularly pleased that we have a new partner for the new SPOTLIGHT season in Paramount+, who trusted us right after the launch to take us on a journey to reach our young target group where they are – with the streaming providers. The SPOTLIGHT community is growing from year to year and our series is proof that it pays to build brands for children in Germany. We have set ourselves the goal of taking the wishes of young viewers seriously, who demand local content that is told universally and feels international. We have a very special responsibility towards this target group, because it is about much more than programming. It’s about an attitude to life among the young audience. SPOTLIGHT is our opportunity to show kids that they are not alone with their questions and issues.”
