Harry Wörz’s case began in 1997 after his separated wife was strangled so severely in their apartment that she suffered permanent brain damage and became a nursing case. Wörz was accused of attempted murder and sentenced to eleven years in prison. In 1999, a damages suit was brought against him, which was taken over by the lawyer Hubert Gorka. When the judges ruled in favor of Harry Wörz, Gorka and his client decided to fight to have the prison sentence overturned. An exhausting marathon with numerous setbacks began. Together, the two fought their way through retrials and appeal hearings all the way to the Federal Court of Justice, which finally acquitted Harry Wörz and established the negligence of the original investigating authorities.
