The work of the script/continuity team involves close collaboration with the director and assistant director. In preparation, the scripts are carefully read and edited in detail, the scenes are stopped, various shooting, stop and cutting lists are created and edited in parallel with the shoot. In addition, the script/continuity department is responsible for continuity on a content level and the continuity of movement during filming is checked and corrected if necessary.
On set, the script/continuity team is the point of contact for all continuous processes and ensures that they are adhered to in collaboration with the props, make-up and costume departments. The script/continuity team also provides feedback on content-related issues, maintains close contact with the editing room and is in close contact with the assistant director.
We are looking for organized team players who like to keep an overview and support the crew with a positive attitude and enjoy working in a structured manner.
Course of the training:
At the beginning, together with the trainees from the other departments, we will introduce you to the industry, the UFA and its units as well as your specialist area. The subsequent practical assignments in at least three different productions and units will give you the opportunity to get to know and actively try out all the tasks of a script/continuity.
Before we let you on set, you can try your hand at preparation, work on scripts and take part in book discussions. And then it’s off to the races: timing scenes, noting movement connections, communicating, discussing, being alert and keeping an eye on costume, make-up and prop connections for each scene. The attention to detail will make the job child’s play for you, so over the course of the two years you (m/f/d) will first be trained in the area and will later take on responsibility on set yourself. At the same time, you will get to know the differences in this area within various fictional formats.
Aim of the training:
Someone has to keep an overview and, in the best case, that someone is you. Are the written times being adhered to? Do the scenes fit together as specified in the script? Are the connections right? You’ll be able to say all this at the end and use what you’ve learned in our projects. Work behind the camera with us and become #partofUFA!
We will be happy to answer any further questions in the FAQ.
The application deadline for participation in the UFA Academy program from 2022 has already ended.
We would be very pleased if you keep an eye on our career page to keep you up to date on current vacancies.
