The assistant director is the right hand of the creative director and the communicative link between the production team (production management, make-up, set, costume, etc.) and the actors and presenters.
The assistant director is part of the directing department and is responsible for extensive preparation. In the case of fictional productions, these are the scripts. This results in various meetings, which the assistant director organizes, leads and passes on all filming-relevant information. For show and entertainment formats, show sequences are prepared, performances and music are timed and their creation and distribution are communicated. The acceptance of props and the positioning of actors/presenters and extras are also part of the job. All of this is done in close collaboration with the director. The assistant director is responsible for organizing a smooth show or filming process in the studio or on location and supporting the creative work of the director in the best possible way. On the fictional set, the assistant director is the contact person for all scheduling processes in close cooperation with the set manager. They are also a very relevant interface for show productions.
