The show has been broadcast weekly on SWR since March 5, 2003 and is hosted by Michael Antwerpes.

SAG DIE WAHRHEIT is a game show format with international success. The American original ‘To Tell The Truth’ first aired on CBS in 1956. To date, it has been shown in eight countries, including Estonia, Greece and Italy. In Germany, the show was broadcast on ARD from 1986 to 1995. At that time it was hosted by Gerd Rubenbauer.

The rules of the game: There are three rounds in total. In the first two rounds, three candidates appear and answer questions from the guessing team. According to the rules of the game, the “real” person must tell the truth throughout the entire show, no matter what questions they are asked by the celebrities. The other two candidates (impostors) do not have to abide by these rules. They can be very inventive in their answers. The only important thing is to give the celebrities the impression that they are the person they are looking for. How the celebrity guests find out the right person, whether through the credibility of the answers or the entire appearance, is up to them. The aim of the candidates is to make the task of recognizing the right person as difficult as possible for the celebrities. At the end of the round, each individual member of the panel announces who they think is the right person. In a third and final round, the four remaining “imposters” (two men and two women) perform once again. The panel now once again has the task of assigning a true story to the right person. However, a celebrity only questions the candidate sitting opposite them. He:she must decide immediately after his:her questioning whether the story applies to the candidate or not.
