As the first RTL series to be produced in-house in the new Tuesday evening slot, “Sankt Maik” instantly thrilled its audience in January 2018.

The content of the first season: On the run from the police somewhere in the provinces, conman Maik(Daniel Donskoy) barely escapes the arm of the law, but not the firm hand of parish housekeeper Maria(Susi Banzhaf), who believes him to be the eagerly awaited new church warden. Unbaptized and anything but innocent, the Berlin petty criminal suddenly becomes the priest of the local Catholic church and initially has only one plan: to somehow raise the 50,000 euros he owes gangster boss Jurek as quickly as possible after a failed deal by his brother Kevin(Vincent Krüger). Otherwise, he has sworn to make a painful example of Maik… To his delight, Maik discovers that the golden monstrance of “his” church is worth around 80,000 euros on the black market! But it’s not that easy to get hold of…

Following the successful first season, the dramedy series will enter the next round on RTL in spring 2019. The channel will present ten new episodes of the series – produced by UFA FICTION – from May 7, 2019 at 9:15 pm. Season 2 will also be available in UHD quality combined with high dynamic range (HDR). About the content of the second season: The people of Läuterberg are in great turmoil and worried about their pastor! Ever since Maik (Daniel Donskoy) threw himself in front of a bullet and saved Eva’s (Bettina Burchard) life, he has been seriously injured in hospital.

On the road to recovery and back in Läuterberg, however, the grace period for the Berlin petty criminal is soon over again, because there are other problems waiting for him: What to do with the body of gangster boss Jurek, which his brother Kevin (Vincent Krüger) found and has been keeping in the vicarage’s freezer ever since?

In the new episodes, Maik and Kevin’s emigration plans are still red-hot: this is another reason why the two brothers remain in Läuterberg. Because they have to find a new source of money for their new start in Panama. And who has a lot of it? The church! But until then, the Berlin petty criminal continues to stumble through various Catholic blunders as “Pastor Sanmann” and successfully takes care of the affairs of his parish. Although he would much rather take care of Eva. Because the village policewoman is still the most attractive thing in all of Läuterberg for Maik – and at the same time his biggest threat.
