The content of the first season: Hannes’(Bert Tischendorf, “Doc meets Dorf”(Bert Tischendorf, “Doc meets Dorf”, “Letzte Spur Berlin”) life is turned upside down: His wife, public prosecutor Kirsten(Annika Ernst), cheats on her colleague(René Steinke, “Danni Lowinski”, “Alarm for Cobra 11”) and Hannes moves out – with the children! And now? For the first time in his life, Hannes has to go to work, but his law degree was ages ago and he has little idea of the practical side of things. Out of necessity, he becomes a public defender and hires his 54-year-old cleaning assistant Yasmina(Andreja Schneider, “Tatort”, “Der letzte Bulle”), a former judge from Croatia, as a paralegal. It’s an absolute stroke of luck: Yasmina is patent, shrewd and one hundred percent loyal. The two of them fight their way through exciting cases that the German legal system throws at them – with just one goal: justice. And without compromises or lazy deals. A headstrong lawyer, honest and funny, who fights for his clients with all his heart until a just verdict is reached. In his private life, however, the happy ending is yet to come: Hannes’ ex-wife Kirsten has not only cheated on him, but also wants to take the children away from him. It’s a good thing that the new world of work also brings with it almost forgotten feelings and old acquaintances – like his former fellow student Susanne (Julia Dietze), who crosses his path on his very first day in court.

About the content of the second season: In the fight for justice, public defender and father-of-four Hannes Beck (Bert Tischendorf) takes on the very difficult cases in the second season: be it by standing by a victim of domestic violence or fighting for the acceptance of homeless people in a murder case. Hannes courageously helps the weak and those who would otherwise fall through the cracks of the justice system. In doing so, he can continue to rely on his patented paralegal Jasmina Božic (Andreja Schneider) – the two are as much of an “odd couple” as ever: the warm-hearted former Croatian judge is quick-wittedly at his side in every case.

Hannes is also given a helping hand in his private life: After a near-accident, the single father decides to hire 28-year-old nanny Sarah Schilken (Tanja Hirner). The young woman immediately wins the hearts of Hannes’ children with her direct manner and humor, and he also enjoys spending time with Sarah. And so the question soon arises: is the public defender falling in love with his nanny? But Hannes is blindsided when he learns that Sarah is only on parole! Having just been released from prison, her past soon catches up with her.
