UFA FICTION GmbH • TV Movie • ZDFBased on the bestseller of the same name by Nele Neuhaus, UFA Fiction is producing the ninth case in the popular ZDF Taunus crime series. In the two-part episode MUTTERTAG – EIN TAUNUSKRIMI, the team of Pia Sander and Oliver von Bodenstein investigates the case of a serial offender. Actress Annika Kuhl is now taking on the role of Inspector Pia Sander, previously played by Felicitas Woll. Tim Bergmann once again plays Oliver von Bodenstein. Other roles will be played by Marie-Lou Sellem, Andreas Lust, Daniela Holtz, Claudia Geisler-Bading, Tobias Langhoff, Cornelius Obonya, Sophie von Kessel, Max Hopp, Imogen Kogge, Camille Dombrowsky and others. Thomas Thieme and Harald Krassnitzer play guest roles. Felix Herzogenrath is directing for the first time, the screenplays are by Annika Tepelmann.

An unusual case for Detective Oliver von Bodenstein, who is returning from a sabbatical, and his colleague Pia Sander, who has sold her beloved Birkenhof: An old man is found dead in his run-down villa. Is it murder or suicide? What initially looks like a routine investigation turns into a race against time for Sander and Bodenstein. The two discover three women’s bodies wrapped in foil on the old man’s property. The conspicuous killing pattern leads the detectives to other murders that have not yet been solved. Apparently there is a serial killer who is still active and always murders on Mother’s Day. With the disappearance of Pia’s sister Kim (Daniela Holtz), the detective is also personally drawn into the case – and the next Mother’s Day is just around the corner.

MUTTERTAG – EIN TAUNUSKRIMI is produced by UFA Fiction (Producer: Benjamin Benedict, Executive Producer: Karoline Kunz) for ZDF. The editors are Daniel Blum and Anja Helmling-Grob. Filming, which began in mid-April 2021 in the Taunus, Munich and the surrounding area, is currently being finalized. A broadcast date for the two-parter has not yet been set.
