Klaus-Jürgen “Knacki” Deuser presented a comedy show on ProSieben.
A recurring element of the show: a door, 2 meters high and 80 centimetres wide. Each guest only knew a tiny part of their task: namely that they had to go through a door. In front: Presenter “Knacki” Deuser with an unsuspecting celebrity guest. Behind him: An ensemble of several people in an elaborate set and with rehearsed roles. With a quick grasp of the situation and a talent for improvisation, the nervous candidate had to prove himself in an unknown role, without a text, without a net or a false bottom.
Only his costume – Roman legionary armor, a doctor’s coat, a designer suit or perhaps a jockey’s outfit – gave him a clue as to which role he might find himself in. A final pat on the back from “Knacki” Deuser, then the door opened: ” Thank God you’re here!” He was greeted by a person he didn’t know at all – e.g. a Roman general, a patient who had just narrowly survived a medical error or a betting cheat. From now on, only ingenuity and a creative mouth would get him out of trouble!
In each episode, “Knacki” Deuser accompanied a total of four celebrity guests to the ominous door. A different scenario awaited each of them. No one knew who he was or what was wanted of him. However, the rules of the game dictated: the role must be kept! As a special incentive, a juror assessed the performance of the four candidates at the end with a wink. In recognition of their performance, “Knacki” Deuser presented the most convincing contestant with the “Thank God you’re here” trophy: a small, glass door!
