"Mensch ärgere Dich nicht" has long been one of the most popular German board games. GRUNDY Light Entertainment developed the show format Promi ärgere Dich nicht! for Sat.1 based on this well-known game.

The four-part TV event was hosted by Hella von Sinnen and Hugo Egon Balder. Four teams of celebrities competed against each other on an oversized playing field.

The first episode featured Axel Schulz, Heinz Hoenig, Bernard Hoecker, Janine Kunze and Jürgen von der Lippe, among others. As in “Mensch ärgere dich nicht”, the aim is to throw out the opponent’s game pieces and circle the entire playing field with your own. The existing rules are supplemented by action fields on which the celebrities have to fulfill bizarre tasks.

In the second part, Mike Krüger, Tim Sander, Guido Cantz, Jenny Elvers-Elbertzhagen, citizen Lars Dietrich, Markus Majowski, Ralf Richter and many others tried to throw out the opposing “figures” in the traditional manner as living, costumed characters and be the first to reach the safe goal.

In contrast to the classic board game, the players were also confronted with numerous action fields with bizarre tasks that they had to perform spontaneously.

Moving into the cottage was to be made more difficult in the third edition with the introduction of a “catapult space”. If a player landed on this “catapult”, they automatically flew to the opposite square on the board. This meant that a player could be catapulted past their own house shortly before the finish line and have to complete an “annoying” extra round. The team captains were also challenged more. They were given a “six-man joker” in which they had to solve a brain teaser. The reward for passing the joker is a “6”, the team captain was allowed to place a player from his team on the starting field and then roll the dice again.

The team bosses in the third edition of Promi ärgere Dich nicht! were Karl Dall, Barbara Eligmann, Mario Barth and Mariella Ahrens.

The players on the pitch were: Ben, Guildo Horn, Oliver Petszokat, Toni Polster, Fiona Erdmann, Charlotte Engelhardt, Dolly Buster, Sandra Völker, Jan Hahn, Norbert Heisterkamp, John Friedmann (Erkan) and Florian Simbeck (Stefan).
