The Cologne-Merheim Accident Clinic receives 60 to 80 emergencies a day – many of them with life-threatening injuries. Quick action is required. In an emergency, fractions of a second can make the difference between life and death.
The team led by Chief Physician Prof. Dr. Bertil Bouillon, the “Christoph 13” air ambulance and the 9th station, who go to great lengths every day to save lives, were portrayed. In addition to perfectly executed procedures, they also provided an insight into their emotional world in a place where joy and suffering are so incredibly close together.
Among other things, the young assistant doctor Tobias Fabian experienced his first 24-hour day in the emergency room, where a man was immediately admitted with life-threatening injuries. Not an easy situation when the slightest mistake could cost someone their life.
