In A WOMEN’S STORY, actress and activist Natalia Wörner embarks on a documentary journey on which she meets strong, self-confident women who are fighting for their equality, rights and freedoms – and who can be seen as role models and pioneers of a movement that is drawing attention to this important issue time and time again.

A WOMEN’S STORY features international stars Helen Mirren and Andie MacDowell as well as some of the country’s most prominent female thought leaders: Jutta Allmendinger, Iris Berben, Thelma Buabeng, Maria Furtwängler, Ursula Karven, Louisa Dellert, Janina Kugel and many others talk about formative experiences, rebelling against prevailing conventions and encourage a change of era – the time is now! We need to discard old patterns and learn to think in new ways in order to create a world that is more equal and fairer for everyone.

The film is intended to encourage and show ways in which we can pass the baton on to young women to conquer the terrain they deserve – supported by a whole choir of strong women. Using Super 8 footage from my childhood, which shows why this topic is so close to my heart, it has become a very private answer to many unanswered questions that are still being asked.”
