Potsdam, May 31, 2022: In 2020, UFA was the first German entertainment company to announce its commitment to more diversity in front of and behind the camera. The first on-screen diversity figures were published this spring.

The focus so far has been on four subject areas: Gender / women, PoC (People of Color), LGBTIQ+ and people with disabilities / inclusion. Just in time for this year’s Diversity Day, the efforts towards more diversity in front of and behind the camera will be extended to another area: With the new godmother Dorothea Goldstein, Executive Producer UFA Fiction, the topic of age is also moving into focus.

Dorothea Goldstein, Executive Producer at UFA Fiction: “Our developments often revolve around the topic of age. This ranges from a lack of exciting roles for actresses 50+, to the desire for complex characters 70+, to the question of how we can also shape our work in front of and behind the camera at an older age. I am delighted to be part of the Diversity Circle and to be driving the new focus topic forward.”

In addition, Tobias Hött, Head of Casting UFA Show & Factual, has taken over the role of mentor for the LGBTIQ+ sector from Markus Schroth.

Diversity Circle UFA:

The UFA internal Diversity Circle was founded by employees in 2020 to bundle and focus all activities relating to diversity and inclusion and to achieve the objectives of the voluntary commitment. The Circle consists of mentors for the five focus topics.

Gender / Women: Katja Bäuerle, Creative Responsibility Manager, UFA and Johanna Langhof, Head of Internal Communications, UFA
PoC (People of Color): Juliana Maug, Story Editor & Diversity Manager, UFA Serial Drama
LGBTIQ+: Tobias Hött, Head of Casting, UFA Show & Factual
