“Binny and the Ghost” is the largest in-house serial production in the fiction sector to date, which UFA FICTION is also producing in Germany for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA region) on behalf of Disney Channel Germany. Steffi Ackermann, one of Germany’s most sought-after and award-winning producers, is responsible for the project. The scripts were written by Vivien Hoppe (“Türkisch für Anfänger”, “Doctor’s Diary”), Benedict Hoermann, Bettina Blümner and Andy Fetscher directed the 2nd season. Season 2 was filmed in Potsdam, Berlin, Brandenburg and Halle.
Crime thriller meets comedy, last century meets here and now, ghost boy meets teenage girl: Binny (Merle Juschka) and Melchior (Johannes Hallervorden) have a lot in common: one room (forced), a passion for all things mysterious, detective-like sleuthing and a keen sense of justice. Thanks to a magical clock that Binny found after moving into the old villa with her parents, she can see Melchior, a ghost from the last century. Since then, Melchior has been living under the same roof as Binny and her unsuspecting parents (Katharina Kaali and Steffen Groth).
The second season
The second season continues with the same excitement! Binny and Melchior try to find out what powers lie dormant in the magical pocket watches and where the other watchkeepers are. In their search for answers, the team of detectives come across exciting criminal cases and a new adversary: Rhett Thorn (Robert Köhler). He is a powerful clock hunter who has set himself the goal of becoming the ruler of time. But in order to carry out his dangerous plan, he needs something that Binny and Melchior possess, which puts them in great danger…
In 2015, the first season of the series starring Merle Juschka and Johannes Hallervorden was awarded two important prizes: the “Goldener Spatz” and the children’s media prize “Der weisse Elefant”. The broadcast of the first season (13 episodes) achieved an average market share of 11.5 percent in the core target group of 6 to 13-year-old girls.
