A shadow flits across the rooftops. The Rooftop Gang races through the city with cool parkour interludes: somersaulting over every wall, kicking the soccer through the narrow streets with daring stunts and spectacular passes and showing passers-by what real street soccer is all about. Moritz (Henry Horn) is sitting in the classroom and can hardly believe his eyes when Alex (Dario Barbanti), the leader of the gang, swings silently through the window into the classroom. Maybe there is hope after all!

After Moritz’s parents (Diana Amft and Benno Fürmann) separated, Moritz had to move in with his mother and grumpy grandfather Rudi (Reiner Schöne). Of all things! A new town and a really tough start. The only soccer club in town turns him down – for the football-loving Moritz, life without soccer is no life at all. But there’s no giving up! In the playground, Moritz forms a team: the cool Rooftop gang, Catrina (Cosima Henman) who – girls or not – can sink every penalty kick, Niko (Sammy Scheuritzel), the brothers Mehmet (Yassine Gourar) and Enes (Kaan Aydogdu).

As TEUFELSKICKER, they are now stirring up the city’s football pitches and causing a lot of excitement at the cup tournament. Not even the adults can resist: Grandpa Rudi, who is actually all right after all, takes over as the TEUFELSKICKER’s soccer coach. The fact that he meets his arch-rival Rothkirch (Armin Rohde) again is just what he needs. Even Moritz’s parents, who are suffering badly from the separation and have been behaving quite clumsily recently, come together on the soccer pitch. Even before kick-off, nerves are on edge as Moritz and the TEUFELSKICKERN’s biggest adventure is just beginning…

“Teufelskicker” is based on the children’s book and radio play series of the same name by Frauke Nahrgang. The film is not only about friendship and team spirit, but also features two actors, Reiner Schöne and Armin Rohde, in a highly entertaining coaching duel. What’s more, this likeable story is so fast-paced that even older soccer fans will enjoy it.
