At the center of the new series is Jan (Pasquale Aleardi), a loving family man and columnist. With his wife Sara (Chiara Schoras) and their two children Carla (Mia Kasalo) and Nick (Levi Eisenblätter), he has settled into a comfortable and manageable life. Everything could be so nice if 13-year-old Carla hadn’t hit puberty. From one day to the next, the friendly and delightful girl has transformed into a young lady who has developed an astonishing and previously unrecognized talent for drama, painful truths and moody bitching.

And then there are Grandma and Grandpa, Jan’s parents: Gisela (Gisela Schneeberger) and Eberhard (Dietrich Hollinderbäumer). Eberhardt is currently experiencing his second spring with one of Jan’s former classmates. Jan’s sister Julia (Henriette Richter-Röhl), on the other hand, who is working as an architect on the new family home, is currently in over her head. But the biggest of the “construction sites” Jan has to take care of is Carla, the pubescent!

The six-part series “Das Pubertier” is a ZDF commissioned production by UFA FICTION. Heike Lagé and Silvia Hubrich are the editors. The producers are Markus Brunnemann and Joachim Kosack.
