Young and old competed to prove to the jury and the audience that they were most like their star.
In this show, it wasn’t enough to look like a star. In My Name Is, it was the whole package that counted. Whether pop legend Michael Jackson, teen idol Miley Cyrus or pop king Udo Jürgens, the candidates had to do everything they could to look as much like their idol as possible. Singing, dancing, performance and looks were the deciding factors in who made it through.
Children and adults competed solo or as a duet and showed off their singing and dancing talent in front of the jury. In three casting shows, model and designer Alessandra Pocher, singer Michelle and former Sony BMG Europe boss Maarten Steinkamp selected the best of the best, who then went through to the final. In the spectacular live show, the candidates performed a song by their idol and impressed the jury and viewers with impressive staging and an astonishing resemblance to the original.
After the two-and-a-half-hour live show, the two winners were announced. The viewers had voted by telephone. Linus aka Justin Bieber took the My Name Is throne in the children’s category. The 12-year-old not only wowed the female fans with his song “Baby”.
This marked the end of the first season of My Name Is. Up to 1.37 million viewers watched the show in total. With great ratings of up to 8.7 percent in the 14-49 age group and an average of 7.9 percent MA, the show was a complete success.
