Children’s birthdays are the best, aren’t they?
Single mother Marlene Frischmann (Jeanne Goursaud) has organized the perfect children’s birthday party for her son Theo (Levin Wopp) in her brother’s chic country villa: Balloons, gluten-free cake, piñata and even wild animals are to make for an unforgettable day. However, the lovingly planned party quickly escalates into a hilarious nightmare, including heated debates about parenting, images of masculinity and parental principles. Marlene’s brash banker brother Timo (Edin Hasanović), her eccentric and drifting father Hans (Heiner Lauterbach), her colleague and idealistic world savior Jenny (Amal Keller) and a very special gift are not entirely innocent in the hullabaloo. Between dysfunctional family structures, pedantic helicopter mothers and childish anarchy, the party increasingly descends into chaos.
