Everything is inextricably linked – that is the motto of the new science series GEO KETTENREAKTION. The largest river on earth flows in the air and cools the earth? Can whale poop play a positive role in climate change? And what does my grilled sausage have to do with deforestation in the Amazon region? Or my Amazon order with the seals in Namibia? It is often everyday little things that trigger far-reaching and global chain reactions. The YouTube series GEO KETTENREAKTION, produced by UFA Documentary on behalf of RTL, offers a new look at the complex mechanisms that drive our planet – scientifically sound, loosely narrated and with breathtaking images. Hosted by Dirk Steffens, one of Germany’s best-known science journalists, the six episodes of the first season will start on March 11 on the RTL News YouTube channel.
Science journalist Dirk Steffens: “If you want to have a say, you need to be in the know. Our new YouTube series offers us the chance to tell knowledge in a completely different and new way. And, above all, in a way that everyone can understand and enjoy.”
In each episode, the series GEO KETTENREAKTION takes viewers on a captivating journey of discovery. Whether it’s about the interplay between animals and their habitat, the dramatic consequences of our consumption of resources or innovative solutions to global challenges – the series combines footage of nature with the latest research findings and moving reports from scientists, environmentalists and all those who work on the challenges of our time on a daily basis. The punchline is always clear: in nature, nothing stands alone. Even small changes have far-reaching effects and open a window into the fascinating chain reactions of our planet.
GEO KETTENREAKTION is part of a multimedia concept that complements the series with other exciting stories on GEO.de, the accompanying podcast series GEO KETTENREAKTION on RTL+ and the science documentary DIE GROSSE GEO-STORY on RTL. This makes complex relationships understandable and tangible – and inspires amazement and reflection.
