Competition
Every participant who submits a series concept in PDF format by 11.05.2025 to the e-mail address diversity.wettbewerb@ufa.de and whose submission also meets the following criteria will be entered into the competition.

Submission criteria

  • Length of the series concept: max. 10 DIN A4 pages
  • Topic reference: Age (50+)
  • Concept for serial format (fictional or documentary/docutainment)
  • Episode length: 15 – 45 minutes
  • Short personal statement on the submitted concept from the living environment of people aged 50+
  • The material is new and the story unique, the rights are free and belong to the submitter, they have not been submitted or assigned elsewhere.
  • Notification of name, address and contact details

 

The best submission and thus the winner of the competition will be selected by a jury of members of the UFA Group companies in cooperation with external representatives of the film industry by the end of July at the latest and will be awarded prize money of 3,000 euros and the option of a script development with the aim of a serial film adaptation. Thejurymakes its decision after extensive discussion by vote and majority decision. The jury’s decision and assessment cannot be contested.

The winner will be notified by e-mail. If the winner does not respond to two requests from UFA within a period of 14 days, the prize may be transferred to another participant. The entitlement to payment of the prize money lapses.

The prize money can only be paid out by bank transfer to a current account in the country of residence. There is no entitlement to any other form of payment of the prize money. It is not possible to transfer the prize money to third parties.

The winner agrees to the publication of his/her first and last name and, after consultation, one or more photos in the context of press releases and communication measures for the competition in the advertising media / social media channels used by UFA and the external jury members. This includes the announcement of the winner on the UFA website(www.ufa.de) and its social media platforms.

Eligible participants

Natural persons who are resident in Germany, Austria or Switzerland and have reached the age of 50 are eligible to participate. If a participant has limited legal capacity, the consent of a legal representative is required.

Participants who provide false personal data may be excluded from the competition. The participant is responsible for the accuracy of the data provided.

UFA has the right to exclude participants from the competition without giving reasons, if they culpably violate the conditions of participation or if UFA has facts there are facts that give rise to the suspicion that the participant or a third party is attempting to influence the competition in an unfair manner. This applies in particular to disruption, threats and harassment of employees, the jury or other participants. Employees of UFA and their relatives are excluded from participation.

UFA reserves the right to at any time without prior notice and without giving reasons to shorten or extend the participation period or to terminate the competition. terminate the competition. This applies in particular to reasons that would disrupt or prevent the competition from running as planned.

Rights

The participant guarantees that he*she is entitled to the rights to the submitted concept without restriction and that he*she is entitled to dispose of them without restriction, as well as that he*she has not yet made any dispositions to UFA that conflict with any rights granted and that the submitted concept is not taken from protected works of third parties, not even in part. By accepting the prize, the winner grants UFA a so-called “first-look” right to acquire the exclusive rights to the series concept.

The winner is not entitled to offer the series concept to a third party at the same time or at an earlier date. In the event that the winner and UFA do not reach an agreement on the acquisition of the exclusive rights within 10 weeks of the submission of UFA’s offer, the winner shall be entitled to offer the rights to third parties after the expiry of this period, but only at more favorable conditions for the winner compared to those of the last state of negotiations between the winner and UFA.

In addition, in the event of a third-party offer from the winner, UFA shall receive a so-called “last matching” right, which UFA can “match” with the winner within 3 calendar weeks of becoming aware of the third-party offer in the amount of the third-party offer from UFA. If UFA does not accept the corresponding offer from the winner in writing (e-mail is sufficient) within the aforementioned period, the winner is free to conclude a contract with the third party for the acquisition of rights.

In the case of productions/developments by a company of the UFA Group that show coincidental similarities with submitted series concepts, the assertion of any claims by the participant is excluded.

Liability

UFA shall only assume liability for damages caused by UFA, its legal representatives or one of its vicarious agents intentionally or through gross negligence or through the breach of cardinal obligations. If a cardinal obligation is breached due to slight negligence, liability shall be limited to the foreseeable damage typical of the contract. Any further liability is excluded. The above limitation of liability also applies to damage caused by errors, delays or interruptions in the transmission of data or similar, in the event of faults in the technical systems or the service, incorrect content, loss or deletion of data, viruses. Liability for culpable injury to life, limb and health in accordance with the statutory provisions remains unaffected.

Data protection

In order to carry out the competition, your personal data must be transmitted to and processed by UFA GmbH. Otherwise you will not be able to take part in the competition. The legal basis for the processing is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b GDPR. The personal data transmitted will be processed exclusively for the purposes of this competition and passed on to the jury.
