DINGSDA, a classic of German television entertainment, celebrates its comeback in 2018! UFA SHOW & FACTUAL is producing a new edition of the popular TV classic for Das Erste under the editorial direction of Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR). The twelve new episodes will be hosted by Mareile Höppner.
DINGSDA is a mixture of game, entertainment and celebrity talk. Two teams of celebrities compete against each other and have to guess terms over several rounds, which are explained by children in one-liners. The children, aged between 4 and 8, explain the various terms in their own words – not always comprehensible to everyone, but always original and hilarious. The guessing team that has collected the most points at the end of the show wins and donates its winnings to charity.
DINGSDA was first launched in the USA in 1982 under the name “Child’s Play” and has since made it onto television screens in 22 countries. In Germany, DINGSDA ran from 1985 to 1987 on BR and from 1988 to 2000 on Das Erste, initially presented by Fritz Egner and from 1994 by Werner Schmidbauer. Between 2001 and 2002, Kabel Eins showed a new edition of the show with presenter Thomas Ohrner.
DINGSDA is produced by UFA SHOW & FACTUAL on behalf of ARD Werbung and ARD; editorial responsibility lies with Bayerischer Rundfunk. The 12 episodes can always be seen on Fridays, starting October 5 at 6:50 p.m. on ARD.
