The SAT.1 satire in which Uwe Ochsenknecht in the title role has to serve his sentence for tax evasion – and gets the ailing prison back in the black in no time at all under the leadership of prison warden Ludwig Moser (Heiner Lauterbach). But the economic success of his new place of work alone does not help the soccer manager get the release he hopes for: the ambitious prison psychologist (Shadi Hedayati) is not fooled by Honig. Instead, she wants to find out the underlying cause of his gambling on the stock market.

“For me as an actor, the exciting thing about a character like Udo Honig with such a strong inner drive is the enormous fall height. With a role like this, you first and foremost have to do justice to the person behind it and his strengths and weaknesses, especially when the story is told with a wink, as in “The Udo Honig Story”,” says Uwe Ochsenknecht, describing the particular challenge of his new role. His colleague Heiner Lauterbach: “It’s a task that has to be faced without underestimating it.”

The satire, produced by UFA FICTION (producer: Joachim Kosack), was directed by Uwe Janson (“Der Minister”, “Die Schlikkerfrauen”), who also wrote the screenplay together with David Ungureit. Uwe Ochsenknecht, Heiner Lauterbach and Shadi Hedayati are joined by Max von Thun as fellow inmate Stefan, Martin Feifel as fellow inmate Alex, Gisela Schneeberger as wife Marion Honig, Hannes Jaenicke as soccer figurehead Franz Kaiser, Wolfgang Fierek as legendary player Paul Greitner, Peter Kremer as club chairman, Wilson Gonzalez Ochsenknecht as young Udo Honig, Götz Otto as prison doctor, Wolfgang Krebs as Minister President Horst Hofersee and many more.and many more in front of the camera.
