Ulrike Leibfried began working as a producer at Typhoon Networks AG during her studies at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg. From 1999 to 2003, she was involved in the development of various series, movie and cinema formats, including the feature film DAS EXPERIMENT, which won four German Film Awards and the Bavarian Film Award in 2001. Between 2001 and 2003, she was in charge of the multi-award-winning police series ABSCHNITT 40 (German Television Award, among others). In 2004, Ulrike Leibfried moved to RTL’s program management department, where she developed new series formats. From 2005 to 2009, she developed and supervised formats such as DOCTOR’S DIARY (awarded the Television and Grimme Prize) and DIE PATIN as an editor in the Fiction department. From 2010 to 2016, she worked for RTL as a freelance editor and executive producer and was responsible for series such as THE TRANSPORTER, DOC MEETS DORF and DEUTSCHLAND83 (multiple awards including the International Emmy Award, Grimme Prize and Golden Camera).

Ulrike Leibfried has been working as a freelance producer for UFA Fiction since May 2016, developing both TV and cinema material. She is responsible for the successful series SANKT MAIK, the third and final season of which is currently in production.

Ulrike Leibfried has been Managing Director of UFA Fiction since August 2019.
