Markus Brunnemann

Markus Brunnemann, born in Berlin in 1972, is one of Germany’s leading series producers and is responsible for numerous high-quality daily serial and other formats.

He began his professional career at Phoenix Film. In 1992, he became managing partner of the long-established company, which has been part of the UFA Group since 2002.

Markus Brunnemann has been Managing Director of UFA Fiction since 2013. Brunnemann’s current productions include the TV series DIE DIPLOMATIN and DIE EIFELPRAXIS (both ARD Degeto), the highly rated TV movie EXTRAKLASSE (ZDF) with Axel Prahl, which will be continued with EXTRAKLASSE 2+, as well as the six-part historical mini-series CHARITÉ (ARD), which achieved the best series launch in this slot for over 25 years in 2017. Markus Brunnemann, together with Nico Hofmann, Benjamin Benedict and Sebastian Werninger, was awarded the Austrian Film and Television Prize Romy for “Best Producer TV Film” in 2018. The second season of CHARITÉ, which was broadcast on ARD in 2019, achieved outstanding viewing figures in the ARD media library and was nominated for the International Emmy Award for “Best Drama Series 2020”. The third season of the series was also extremely successful and was watched by millions of viewers on TV and in the media library.

As Managing Director of UFA Serial Drama, Markus Brunnemann has also been responsible together with Joachim Kosack since 2017 for, among other things the daily, long-running formats GUTE ZEITEN, SCHLECHTE ZEITEN, UNTER UNS and ALLES WAS ZÄHLT on RTL, the youth series SPOTLIGHT (Nick) and the crime dramedy RAMPENSAU, which aired on VOX in 2019, the event series SUNNY – WER BIST DU WIRKLICH? and the series VERBOTENE LIEBE – NEXT GENERATION on TVNOW (both 2020).
