His daily workplace is the Bavarian state forests. With a passion and love for nature, he forested 4000 hectares of land here. Which plants actually bloom on our doorstep? What animals live in our forests and what secrets does the forest hold?
As we hiked through his district with the friendly and knowledgeable forester, he explained the special features of the forest, the secret of near-natural silviculture and how he managed to reconcile ecology and economy.
On our walk, we came across a cone tree climber climbing to dizzying heights in the treetops or walkers collecting the treasures of the forest – mushrooms, hawthorn and elderberries. With its impressive images, the nature documentary made us want to go out and walk through the woods that are so close to our front door.
