On his arrival at Buchenwald concentration camp, the Pole Jankowski carries a suitcase with him, which he guards like the apple of his eye. The two inmates Pippig and Höfel are astonished when they discover a child in the suitcase. After the child is hidden in the camp for several days – at considerable risk and endangering the activities of the illegal resistance group – it is decided with a heavy heart to send the Pole and the child to the extermination camp. Walter Krämer, the camp elder, opposes the decision and takes the child into his care. With the help of courageous and resourceful helpers, he takes on the dangerous task of saving the child from the SS and defying the hostile environment with humanity.
“Naked Among Wolves” is the remake of the well-known GDR novel of the same name by Bruno Apitz. It focuses on the final days of the Second World War and the liberation of Buchenwald concentration camp. “Naked Among Wolves” is the follow-up project by the makers of “Our Mothers, Our Fathers”.
