Filming for the new comedy series DER UPIR took place in Berlin in early 2024. In the leading roles: JERKS. star Fahri Yardım as Berlin hipster Eddie and indie all-round artist Rocko Schamoni, who bites his way through Berlin in his role as 19th century vampire Igor. Together, the two are more biting than Edward and Bella in TWILIGHT ever were – and ever will be. Where? In the new eight-part vampire comedy series THE UPIR, produced by UFA Fiction – from Wednesday, September 18, 2024, exclusively on Joyn.
Katharina Possert, producer UFA Fiction: “THE UPIR is about nothing less than life and death, but every refrigerator door sucks harder than our two sapless chaos vampires when they rush through their everyday lives together. For our first collaboration with Joyn, we have a stunningly talented and hilarious creative trio in Fahri Yardım, Rocko Schamoni and UPIR inventor Peter Meister. We can look forward to Germany’s first vampire comedy!”
Thomas Münzner, Vice President Content at Joyn: “Comedy is as much a part of Joyn as the bite of a vampire: the cult series JERKS. is just one example – but one whose sensational success we take our lead from. In the future, we will invest even more heavily in this genre and, with series such as THE UPIR, we will ensure a supply of humor that can sometimes hurt.”
Alongside Fahri Yardım and Rocko Schamoni in the leading roles, these artists play co-vampires and mortals: TATORT commissioner Andrea Sawatzki, Austrian cabaret artist David Scheid (DAVE), Lana Cooper (LOVE STEAKS), quick-change artist Bernhard Schütz (EICHWALD, MDB), Thelma Buabeng (KÄTHE UND ICH), Stephanie Petrowitz (THE ZONE OF INTEREST) and multi-award-winning Aenne Schwarz for ALLES IST GUT.
Human – Upir – Vampire: Climbing the career ladder to immortality was not actually Eddie’s (Fahri Yardım) goal. But during a house inspection, the hip Berlin burger joint owner is bitten by vampire Igor (Rocko Schamoni) in the depths of the cellar. From this moment on, Eddie’s transformation from human to bloodsucker begins. He can only prevent this metamorphosis by unconditionally serving Igor as an upir. In the removal of corpses as well as in his amorous ambitions …
