When a Cape cobra is spotted in the stairwell of an apartment building in the fictional small town of Wingen, panic breaks out. For City Councilman Hammsbergen (Bernhard Schütz), an escaped venomous snake is the last thing he needs right before his big career moment. Without further ado, he delegates responsibility to his conscientious administrative assistant, Rabea Thelen (Laura Tonke).

For the single mother, this marks the start of a race against time. Instead of going on vacation with her two teenage children as planned, she organizes crisis teams, evacuation efforts, and information networks. She receives support from a hopelessly overwhelmed team as well as a self-proclaimed reptile expert (Marc Hosemann) with questionable capture methods. Additional difficulties are caused by an increasingly desperate amateur snake keeper (Julius Nitschkoff), who insists on his innocence with growing vehemence.

While Rabea juggles regulations, public pressure, and her children’s discontent, the universally beloved Winger Kirmes is drawing ever closer, hanging over everyone’s heads like the Sword of Damocles.
