With its online videos, spin-offs, weekly previews and backstage reports, UFA SERIAL DRAMA’s digital department ensures that viewers are always up to date. In order to promote young digital talent, UFA SERIAL DRAMA offers traineeships in the online sector.

 

 

ACTIVITY PROFILE DURING THE TRAINEESHIP

Aim and general description of the traineeship

The aim of the digital trainee program is to acquire professional qualifications that will enable the trainees to work as young professionals in the online sector in a company after completing their training. The training should be practice-oriented. It is a combination of learning on the job, coaching by the training supervisors and the expansion of theoretical knowledge through internal and external further training measures.

 

Training content

During their training, the trainees are permanently assigned to an online editorial team and support the employees in the following tasks, which they are expected to take on independently as they become more independent:

  • Conception and realization of interviews with actors, weekly previews and backstage clips, etc.
  • Editorial collaboration and realization of filming
  • Editing and dubbing of the filmed material in Premiere
  • Support/cooperation in the production of moving image content for the USD website
  • Support for all members of the USD Digital department
  • Getting to know all the work steps involved in the respective editorial department
  • Participation in team meetings

 

Teaching the basics of journalistic work

  • Research (information sources and informants, verification or source checking and internet research, working with agencies, databases and PR material);
  • Copywriting and editing (selection and evaluation of news and journalistic forms of presentation)
  • Writing & copywriting for online media (creation of texts and texts for moving image content)
  • Language and style (comprehensibility, writing as a craft, departmental language, headlines)
  • Forms of presentation (especially news, reportage/feature, gloss, commentary, interview)
  • Question and interview techniques (obtaining original sound bites, interview for background information)
  • Moderation (chat forums), dealing with user reactions

 

Teaching the basics of creating and using photos

  • photojournalistic forms of presentation (event, news, feature, documentary, portrait photography, individual images and reports)
  • Image composition, use of light
  • Image selection
  • Image editing / creation of screenshots
  • Technical basics of photography

 

Teaching the technical and content-related basics for the creation of video contributions

  • Basics of the contribution structure
  • Technical basics of camera and sound work
  • Image composition, use of light
  • Technical and content-related basics of editing work
  • Basics of voice acting

 

Teaching dramaturgical principles for fictional content

  • Basics of classic series dramaturgy
  • Basics of transmedia storytelling
  • Conception of online series and fictional content for existing TV formats

Teaching the technical and content-related basics of the Internet

  • Functionality and business model of large content and social media platforms
