Frequently asked questions

BACK TO OVERVIEW

If I want to do #somethingwithmedia, how do I get started? Toggle

Basically, you should have a keen interest in the media sector. Especially in the production processes of our productions (i.e. the jobs and workflows behind the camera). You can get off to a good start by focusing on your interests as early as possible, whether at home, at school or through internships.

What is the quickest way to the set? Toggle

If you are primarily interested in working on set and do not yet have a wealth of professional experience, pay particular attention to advertised internships and trainee programs.

Does the UFA also offer training opportunities? Toggle

Yes, you can find more information about our various training opportunities under the “Training” category here on the careers page.

Is there a time frame I should keep in mind when applying? Toggle

We always state in the advertisements when the position is to be filled.

What does the selection process look like? Toggle

Depending on the position, one or more interviews are held with the respective specialist/department head and a HR manager.

There are individual selection processes for special entry/trainee programs, such as an assessment center or presentations on predefined topics.

How long does it take until I receive feedback after submitting my application? Toggle

As soon as we have received your documents, you will automatically receive a confirmation of receipt.

Attention: Sometimes our emails end up in the spam folder. So please check the spam folder in your email account if you are expecting a reply from us.

As the selection of our employees is very important to us, we take the time to carefully review every application. We endeavor to get back to applicants as quickly as possible, but ask you to be patient. We will get back to you in any case and therefore ask you to refrain from making further inquiries.

What do I earn at UFA? Toggle

Your salary is based on your professional experience, your age and the responsibility of the job you will be doing.

We also pay for internships. The remuneration here depends on your experience.

Can I apply again despite a rejection? Toggle

Yes, with your consent, we will archive your application for six months anyway so that we can contact you again if we have a similar vacancy.

You can also reapply for another position at any time using the online form.

Why are my application documents archived for six months? Toggle

Even if we have turned you down, we would like to keep your documents on file for the next six months so that we can contact you again if we have a similar vacancy. If you do not agree to your data being archived, please inform us by email(jobs@ufa.de). We will then delete your data record immediately.

After six months, your data will be automatically deactivated by us.

Why is the online application form preferred? Toggle

We work with an electronic applicant management system in which all applications received are managed centrally. By using the online form, your application lands directly in the right job advertisement and we can forward it immediately.

However, if we receive your application by email or post, we first have to enter it into the applicant management system. This can lead to delays, as we receive a large number of applications every day.

Using the online form therefore has advantages for both you and us.

What do I have to do if I am interested in several job offers? Toggle

Each vacancy is treated individually and forwarded to different decision-makers. You are therefore welcome to apply more than once if you are interested in several vacancies. Please use the online form provided for each vacancy.

You also have the option of creating a profile so that you don’t have to re-enter your details every time you apply.

Does the UFA pay attention to data protection when I apply? Toggle

UFA naturally observes the applicable data protection laws in the application process, in particular the EU General Data Protection Regulation and the Federal Data Protection Act.

How do I know if a tender is still up to date? Toggle

As soon as we have a vacant position to fill, we will also advertise it. So as long as you can find the vacancy on the UFA careers page “Create your own story”, you can also apply. If the position is filled, we will take it offline to avoid any misunderstandings.

As the selection process can sometimes take a while, we ask for your patience. However, as long as the position is advertised with us, you can apply.

Who should I address my cover letter to? Toggle

In each job advertisement you will find a contact person to whom you can address your application.

How long before my desired date of employment should I apply? Toggle

We recommend that you apply for published positions as early as possible, as the entire application process from receipt of an application to the final decision can take some time.

For unsolicited applications, you should always state your desired hiring date. However, we would like to point out that we cannot give any specific information on when we will fill unadvertised positions.

What makes me interesting for UFA as an applicant? Toggle

You will fit in particularly well with us if you can answer the following questions with “yes”:

  • Do you share our fascination for stories and entertainment?
  • Are you characterized by reliability, perseverance and team spirit?
  • Would you like to work independently quickly after a thorough induction?
  • Are you motivated by a dynamic environment in which your own ideas are encouraged?

Can I also send an unsolicited application? Toggle

As we publish all vacancies on our careers page, unsolicited applications have fewer chances. It is therefore better to check our careers page from time to time to see if there is a vacancy that interests you.
